Columbia Steel high strength alloy steel hammers provide outstanding service

Our H79 alloy steel hammers provide reliable, consistent service for secondary and primary crushers . H79 is a high strength alloy steel with a hardness of 477-512 HB. The hardness provides very good resistance to abrasive wear. H79 is also very tough and has Charpy V-notch impact test results of 16 ft-lb. This toughness is reflected in the outstanding service record of Columbia Steel H79 hammers.

Primary Hammermills

Primary hammermills often require manganese steel hammers due to severe impact resistance requirements. Manganese steel hammers are also the choice for customers who rebuild their hammers with manganese weld and/or carbide overlays. Columbia Steel can also supply manganese hammers with factory applied chrome carbide overlay. Many of our cement plant customers have their H79 hammers shipped to them with our factory applied Xtend chrome carbide overlay. Xtend will achieve a hardness of 713 HB on H79 and will significantly increase the service life of the hammer.

Wear Studies

We perform wear studies for our customers of Columbia Steel hammers and competitive hammers to analyze wear patterns and develop possible design modifications to improve the service life and/or cost per ton of product.

Our engineers often travel with Columbia Steel district managers to the cement plants they service. Let us work with you to see if we can offer a crusher hammer that will provide superior cost effectiveness for your plant.
