Spiral Classifier

Description of Spiral Classifier

We produce high weir type, single and double spiral, and immersed single and double spiral classifiers. Our spiral classifiers are widely used in the distribution of ore in closed circuits with ball mills, grading ore and fine slit in gravity mills, grading granularity and flow of metal ore-dressing, and de-sliming and dehydrating in washing.

This product features simple structure, reliable working conditions and convenient operation. Because different grains have different
specific gravity and sedimentation rates in liquid, this product allows the fine ore to flow in the water, while coarse ore sinks to the bottom.

This classifier can filter materials and send coarse materials to the feeding mouth and discharge fine materials from the pipe. The
seat of the machine features channel steel material, while the body is armor plated and the spiral axle is made of cast iron for durability. The machine’s lifting equipment can be used manually or electronically.

Spiral classifiers advantages

• Energy saving
• Heavy duty, rugged construction
• Continuous spiral raking
• Powerful self-contained spiral lifting device
• Adjustable weirs
• Sealed, submerged bearing
• Optional automatic lubrication system
• Rigid tank and substructure
• Wide choice of tank design
• Overflow collection box
• Wide range of industries serviced

Main shaft

The major load on the main shaft is a beam load with minor torsion and tension loading. Large diameter, seamless steel, tubular shafts are designed for minimum shaft deflection. Heavy Duty Abrasion-Resistant Wearing shoes Abrasion-resistant, replaceable wearing shoes protect the working face of the flight from wear. Polyurethane shoes are standard. Chrome iron and Ni-hard are available as options. The wearing shoes are fastened to the flights with countersunk head bolts. The high pitch of the spiral reduces sliding friction, resulting in less wear of the shoes.

Sealed, Submerged Bearing

The sealed, submerged bearing is simple in design. Two heavy-duty roller bearings are mounted in a special housing and protected from contamination by foreign material by spring-loaded grease seals plus a labyrinth seal. The submerged bearing assembly, bolted to the lower end of the Metso Spiral Classifier shaft, is easily raised for periodic inspection or preventative maintenance by means of the spiral lifting device. Automatic lubrication system is optional.

Lifting Devices

Manual handwheel: Spiral assembly raised and lowered by a simple, positive action, handwheeloperated screw device is standard for units up to 900 mm diameter. Electro-Mechanical: Spiral assembly raised and lowered by an electric screw jack actuator is standard on 1050 mm diameter and larger units.

Adjustable Weir

The adjustable weir overflow, which varies the spiral submergence and pool area, consists of removable weir bars located in guide channels welded to the tank sides at the overflow end.

Reducer Drive

The NFLG classifier is driven by a shaft mounted gear motor unit or reducer via ”V” belts and an electric motor. The reducer is flange pivoted such that the rakes can be raised and lowered whilst rotating. This innovative design allows the reducer bearing to act as the classifier upper bearing. NFLG’s range of Laboratory and Pilot Plant Spiral Classifier are available in 150, 225, 300 and 400 mm diameter and include many of the features of the full size units.
