Charcoal briquette, also known as artificial charcoal, is made of carbonized biomass powder which combined with other adhesives, and then the mixture is pressed by the briquette machines.
Its raw materials sources are various, like crop straw husk, peanut shell, cotton shell, corn cob, rice husks, and other forestry residues which can be used for briquettes.
Next, we will analyze the briquette machines on the market in terms of equipment output, finished product shape, and materials that the equipment can process, to help you choose the right one.
Note that the briquette machines can process the carbonized biomass materials, such as tree branches, sawdust, coconut shells, rice husks, etc. This means that you need to carbonize them first by yourself. We don’t offer carbonization furnaces. Then we can help you crush them into powder, which is later pressed into the charcoal briquettes.
5 Main types of briquette machines
There are many types of briquette machines that can be used for charcoal briquetting on the market. Users can choose a suitable one according to their own production requirements, shape and size, quality requirements and the use of binders.
According to the different devices they are equipped, there are mainly 5 types of machines for briquetting.
1. Strong pressure briquette machine
The high-pressure briquetting press uses two opposing moving rolls to press the dry powder into different shapes which can be square, egg, oval, pincushion shape and the like. The size of the briquette is 20-75 mm.
Production capacity: 1-8.5 t/h
Finished product shape: Round, pillow, oval, square, etc.
The entire hydraulic system ensures the molding pressure, and the system is reliable and easy to operate. In addition, it also acts as hydraulic protection to adjust the roller pressure.
Production capacity: 4-18 t/h, 25-70 t/h
Finished product shape: Round, pillow, oval, square, etc.
Applied materials: coal powder, charcoal, wood charcoal, coconut charcoal, coal slime, coke powder, ore powder, gypsum, quicklime, mineral powder, etc.
3. Static pressure briquette making machine
The static pressure briquetting machine is used to press the wet powder, that is, a certain proportion of water and other liquid binders are added to press the ball.
Production capacity: 2.2-40 t/h
Finished product shape: Round, pillow, oval, square, etc.
Applied materials: Charcoal and coal powder, coal slime, coke powder, ore powder, gypsum, quicklime, mineral powder, etc.
4. Dry powder briquette machine
The dry powder briquette machine has a cushioning device to better protect the equipment from hard objects. It is designed with an adjustable device so that the mould is always within the adjustable range without displacement.
The briquette machine for dry powder does not need to add water, and can be forced to feed materials. If the material needs a large pressure to be pressed, a hydraulic device can also be arranged.
Production capacity: 0.5-15 t/h
Finished product shape: Round, pillow, oval, square, etc.
Applied materials: Coke powder, graphite powder, fly ash, oxide, vanadium and titanium ore powder, steel refining agent, manganese, iron powder, blue carbon dust, lime powder, magnesium oxide powder, etc.
5. Twin-Roller briquette machine
The double-roll briquetting machine has the characteristics of high ball formation efficiency, low power consumption, compact structure and convenient maintenance.
The machine adopts an electromagnetic speed regulating motor with manual control to form a certain shape. According to the briquetting conditions, the user can change the speed to achieve the best globing rate and highest yield.
Production capacity: 1-30 t/h
Finished product shape: Round, pillow, oval, square, etc.
Charcoal is produced by burning carbon-rich materials such as wood in a low oxygen atmosphere. This process drives off the moisture and volatile gases present in the original fuel. The charred material not only burns longer, and is more stable, but is lighter than the entire wood (one-fifth to one-third of the original weight).
Charcoal Briquetting
Irregularly shaped charcoal will burn insufficiently when used, resulting in a waste of resources. Therefore, it must be pressed into a spherical shape to make it fully burned.
In the video, the charcoal briquettes are 4 mm in length and 2mm in diameter with high hardness, which makes it easy to stack and not easy to break even if harshly dropping the briquettes on the ground. So, charcoal briquettes produce no dust to pollute the air and the human body, and become the most popular fuel for grilling.
The basic structure of briquette machine
It consists of three parts: the feeding part, the transmission part, and the molding part.
1. The feeding part
It is mainly to realize the quantitative feeding to ensure that the material evenly enters between the rolls. The screw feeding device is driven by the electromagnetic speed regulating motor, and is rotated by the pulley and the worm reducer to force the pressed material into the main feeding port.
Due to the constant moment characteristic of the electromagnetic speed regulating motor, when the amount of material of the screw feeder is equal to the amount of material required by the main engine, a constant supply pressure can be maintained to gain the high quality of the pellet.
If the feeding is too large, the feeding device is overloaded; if the feeding is too small, the briquette can not be formed. Therefore, the skilled operation technique is an important condition for ensuring the normal operation of the machine.
2. The transmission part
Its main drive system consists of motor, triangular belt, reducer, open style gear and roll. The main engine is driven by an electromagnetic speed regulating motor, which is transmitted to the driving shaft through a pulley and a cylindrical gear reducer, and then through a pin and pin coupling.
The passive bearing housing is equipped with hydraulics at the rear. A hydraulic pump generates high-pressure oil into the cylinder to cause axial displacement of the piston, thus protecting the machine. The front joint of the piston rod is placed on the bearing housing to meet production pressure requirements.
3. The molding part
It mainly refers to the main engine part, and the core part is the roll. When the feed between the two pressure rollers is too much or enters the metals, the hydraulic cylinder piston rod is overload.
Next, the hydraulic pump will stop working, the accumulator will buffer the pressure change, the overflow valve will open for oil return, and the piston rod will be displaced to widen the gap between the pressure roller to allow the hard object to pass through the roller.
Finally, the system pressure returns to normal, thereby protecting the pressure roller from damage.
The charcoal burning effect after becoming charcoal briquettes
The burning effects of charcoal briquettes
A lot of people think, well, this is an artificial product. But it’s really just sawdust with a little cornstarch and a couple of other things added to it that hold it together. And the neat thing about them is they’ re all the same size.
They have grooves to allow airflow through them. So, you get good airflow because remember there are two fuels when you’re cooking: one is charcoal and the other is oxygen. The uniform-sized briquettes can work better today as they did yesterday, which the main reason that most people choose them.
Cooking is all about control:
Heat control
Temperature control
Flavor control
And you really get it from briquettes. Generally, 40-80 briquettes with length 4mm and diameter 2mm can full burning only within 10-15 mins, and then they will be all white and ready to go.
Why don’t people like lump charcoal?
Due to different thicknesses
So, when you get a small piece and a thick piece of lump charcoals, they don’t burn evenly when you’re cooking them. Sometimes the center of a big piece doesn’t burn properly, and you’ve got a lot of uncooked wood in there, which will pop, crackle, and build up a lot of smoke.
Nobody wants to smoke from charcoal
Charcoal is for heat. The other thing that concerns people about the lump charcoal is whether construction material can be recycled. People don’t know that it doesn’t have preservatives in it, and they don’t want to be tasting wood preservatives when cooking.
Briquette machines- help you get amazing charcoal briquettes
The large briquette machine is mainly used for pressing powder materials that are difficult to form. It is characterized by large molding pressure, an adjustable number of revolutions of the main engine, and a screw feeding device.
Through the belt, the material is transmitted to the reducer, and the reducer passes through the coupling to the driveshaft and then by a pair of open gears to ensure that the two rollers are synchronized (the equal speed with reverse direction). The material stored in bins uniformly enter the forming hopper through the quantitative equipment.
The unit forming pressure of the material is changed from small to large, and it reaches the maximum at the centerline of the pair of rolls. After the material passes the line, the forming pressure is rapidly reduced to make the material enter the off-ball state and smoothly take off from the mould.
Except for briquettes, after carbonization by the stove, the charcoal can also be made in strip, square and elliptical shapes. It is widely used in many fields such as barbecue (BBQ), metallurgy, chemical industry, animal husbandry, etc.
Budget analysis for investing a briquette machine
In China, the price of ordinary charcoal powder is about $280 a ton, and the price of charcoal briquette is $420 a ton. This shows that the profit from powder to briquette is 420-280 = $140.
Assuming a large briquette machine with a production of 40 t/h and a 10-hour work a day, and the daily output is 400 t. Then the user’s daily profit can be 40×10×140 = $ 56000.
Profit(per ton)

Work hour(per day)
Total profit(per day)

The price of a briquette machine
It can be seen that the profit brought by the machine for briquette is considerable without considering the price of the machine itself.
However, the specific price of the briquette machine often varies according to the dealer’s sales method(direct selling manufacturer or middleman) and the capacity.
Actually, its market price is between $7, 000 and $21,000, which is negligible compared with the profit that the charcoal machine can bring. Users can choose the machine that suits their needs according to their actual requirements and economic strength.
