Peru, officially the Republic of Peru, is a country in the western South America. It is bordered on the north by Ecuador and Colombia, on the east by Brazil on the southeast by Bolivia, on the south by Chile, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean.
Peru is rich in mineral resources, and it is one of the 12 biggest mining counties. The main minerals are copper, lead, zinc, silver, and iron. Reserves of bismuth and vanadium rank first in the world. Copper, ranking 3rd, and silver, zinc, ranking fourth. The main trade partners of Peru are America, China, Chile and Canada.
The copper minerals are extending to the Chile north areas. In addition these minerals, Peru also has a lot of gold, iron, lead, phosphorus, and other minerals resources. However, due to lacking of funds, backward technology, and some other reasons, the mineral being mined in Peru only takes about 10% of all proven reserves. Preliminary inverstigations and exploration results show that rich southern region of Peru , there are more than 60 mine lots. Most of these gold deposits are in the Andes mountain or foothills, and the topography and geological structure are very complex, requiring the use of modern technology for exploration. According to Peru’s mineral exploration budget plan, it requires a total investment at least 1 billion dollars for the gold exploration.
Peru is rich in iron ore resources, but most of the mineral deposits are in the foot of the Andes, far away fom the harbor, so the mining costs are higher than normal one. In addition to the jurisdiction of China’s Shougang Hierro Peru Corporation Limited(referred to as the Shougang Corporation), at the present, no other company engaged in iron ore export business in Peru. The apulimake….. in central Peru is the biggest proven reserves of iron ores. The reserves reach 10 billion tons , but the mining area are 600 km away from the harbor and no transit railway, the highway conditions are relatively poor. However, the iron contents in the minerals are about 64%, the quality is good. Some domestic companies are taking with Peru about the cooperate developing the iron minerals too.
