Functional use: Spodumene is an important source of lithium for use in ceramics, mobile phone and automotive batteries, medicine and as a fluxing agent.

Lithium is a soft, silver-white metal that belongs to the alkali metal group of chemical elements. It is represented by the symbol Li, and it has the atomic number 3. Under standard conditions it is the lightest metal and the least dense solid element. Like all alkali metals.

Lithium Application:

• Because of its specific heat capacity, lithium is often used in coolants for heat transfer applications.
• Lithium is used in lithium-ion batteries because of its high electrochemical potential, a typical cell can generate approximately 3 volts, compared with 2.1 volts for lead/acid or 1.5 volts for zinc-carbon cells.
• Lithium is also used in the pharmaceutical and fine-chemical industry in the manufacture of organolithium reagents, which are used both as strong bases and as reagents for the formation of carbon-carbon bonds.

Lithium mining

Native lithium is rare in nature. Most of the lithium is extracted from the mining spodumene. The extraction of lithium is a very complex process, in which many machines and equipment will be used. NFLG can supply crusher and grinding mill for crushing process and grinding process.

Spodumene Crusher and Spodumene Grinding Mill

The common spodumene crushing and grindng process is below. The raw spodumene is feeded to jaw crusher and crushed in jaw crusher down to 5 mm particle size, then crushed spodumene is feeded into the ball mill for grinding. The final product of crushing and grinding process will be processed and extracted by other equipment. NFLG can supply jaw crusher as spodumene primary crusher and cone crusher as secondary crusher if necessary. Additional, NFLG can provide ball mill for grinding spodumene. NFLG coarse powder mill and MTM trapezium mill is a good substitute of ball mill.
